Hire Details

We hire out the following


Each hall has its own well equipped kitchen, available to hire, either to provide refreshments or to prepare a full meal, in which case use of the walk in cold store is also available.

Two Airpots (hot water flasks) are available from the office, booked in advance please. These are useful for smaller groups not wanting to interrupt their session for a coffee break.

Greyfriars also has an oil drum barbeque to hire, perfect for summer events.

Tables and Chairs

The Centre is well equipped with chairs, for indoor and outside use, 6’ and 3’ trestle tables and a selection of different coloured tablecloths, which are available to hire for special occasions. Furniture in all halls and rooms (with the exception of the Committee Room) may be set up as wished.


A movable bar is available for use in Greyfriars, Ann Rose and Ebenezer Halls.


The team of Greyfriars’ caretakers do their best to set up rooms and halls, in accordance with prior instructions. Hirers are more than welcome to set up their own space if preferred, as long as the office is informed of what is required in the way of tables and chairs, etc. in advance.

The team will also clear the rooms after use ready to set up for the next user.

The caretakers are also responsible for the daily cleaning and tidying of the Centre. However, they are not on site all the hours that the Centre is open, so it is appreciated if users leave the halls, rooms and especially kitchens in a reasonable condition.

The Small Print

Room & hall bookings made for 20 weeks or more in a calendar year qualify for a 10% discount – please discuss with Claire or Anne

Digital projectors can be hired for £5 a session; ceiling projection in the Greyfriars Hall is also £5

The lawn can be hired, e.g. for a bouncy castle and/or games, at £26

For charges to hold an art exhibition in the Megan Holman Room please contact the Office

There is a 5% charge on tickets sold by us for events not being held at Greyfriars

RMDS tickets purchased at Greyfriars earn the Community Centre a commission

RMDS ticket sales via “Ticket Source” incur £1 fee included in price & not charged extra

Greyfriars earns 10% commission on Solent Coaches day tours sales, included in the advertised prices

Minibuses are ONLY available for hire to Affiliated groups and Greyfriars clubs and @ £1.70 a mile

Important note If you are bringing in electrical equipment to use at Greyfriars, please can you make available to the Managers, in advance, a relevant PAT test certificate

Catering Specific

“Full kitchen use” includes access to oven, pans, plates, cutlery, cups/saucers etc as well as use of the cold store

“Some kitchen use” assumes you will have prepared your meal away from the Greyfriars site

Airpots are quoted in the table below at £3 each – if filled using Greyfriars ingredients this is £10

Teas and coffees using Greyfriars ingredients are at advertised canteen prices (money in envelope through office door)

No corkage charges, but if you sell alcohol you must purchase a licence through the Greyfriars Office

Table cloths can be hired in different colours: pink, cream, blue, dark green and light green

There is a Greyfriars Special Events Team who are pleased to cater for Greyfriars members and Greyfriars clubs – please speak to the Office to request a quote
