Luncheon and talk by Chelsea Pensioner Brian Cummings MBE, Greyfriars 7 February 2015

Brian described the ornate state apartments, the Chapel and the Great Hall, demonstrating his skill as a tour guide. He also spoke with enthusiasm about the pensioners’ Club House, offering everything from bingo to visiting belly-dancers!

His talk was preceded by a delicious luncheon prepared by members of Greyfriars Special Events Committee in aid of the Community Centre.

Saturday 20th June 2015. Paul is probably best known for his numerous appearances over the last 25 years on the BBC TV programme Antiques Roadshow, always wearing his distinctive stripped blazers.

After an excellent supper prepared and served by the Special Events Committee, Paul gave an informal talk about his Life with Trains, a love of which stemmed from train spotting as a child and subsequent appreciation of the part that the railways have made in the country’s social history.



The final of the Greyfriars Challenge Quiz on 30 March was closely contested, with Ringwood Garden Club emerging winners by just 1 point from Hampshire Genealogical Society. 8 teams took part in the final.
