One group meets on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00 – 4.00 pm year round, to read a wide range of plays for pleasure. Please contact Russell Webb (01425 476618). russell.webb@btinternet.com
Another group also meet on Wednesdays from 3.30 – 5.30 pm to do the same. Please contact Chris Wightman (01425 475082).
In a convivial atmosphere, we aim to read a play a week. Play sets borrowed from Winchester discovery Centre, via Ringwood Library, include the classical greats of European literature(notably, Anouilh, Checkhov, Ibsen, Shaw and Wilde) together with contributions from contemporary writers (e.g. Alan Bennett, Agatha Christie, Noel Coward, Somerset Maughn, Arthur Miller John Osborne, Harold Pinter, J B Priestley, Emlyn and Tennesse Williams). Thus all aspects of drama are covered – tragedy, mystery, comedy – and the cathartic or joyful effects are fully appreciated by the readers whose nuanced reactions to the text ensure that each play becomes alive and meaningful. If anyone would like to join us (no experience necessary, just enthusiasm!) please contact Russell on the phone number or e mail above.
