Lorna Byron School of Art Telephone: 477414 Tuesday: 9.30 a.m. – 12 noon www.lornabyron.com Since the start of the New Year, apart from our regular art classes, held every Tuesday morning, there were two Saturday workshops. In January, we held a line and wash day painting Alderholt Mill, followed by an enjoyable day in February painting spring flowers in water colour and water colour pencils. Our future Saturday workshops will cover Pastel, Mixed Media and Water Colour, plus we have planned field trips to a livery farm and a day by the water’s edge at Stanpit. There was a highly successful student exhibition in Greyfriars during February at which paintings were sold. Both beginners and experienced artists will be made most welcome. If you would like to join our group, please call Lorna as above, or send an e-mail to lorna@lornabyron.com. Painting Plants and Flowers Joan Osborne SBA Telephone: 476127 Wednesday 10 a.m. – 12 noon Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. We’ve had another good, hardworking term, which has sped by very quickly. Spring flowers have come out early and have gone over rapidly, almost before we’ve had a chance to capture their beauty. After a short break we’ll have a great variety of plants to choose from, ideas are already taking shape. The classes and workshops continue to be very popular and are well supported. However, enquiries are always welcome. Pilates Cleo Moffatt Telephone: 01202 298778 Wednesday 2 – 3 p.m. & 3 – 4 p.m. Pilates offer so many benefits to every participant. This class brings you the feeling of relaxation and well-being. We work mainly on the floor with gentle transitions from one move to the next. Each exercise is designed to improve your core strength, which means it keeps your back strong and tones your tummy. Using a varied combination of these moves each week you will also improve your mobility, flexibility, posture and overall muscle tone. There’s plenty of room for progression with a range of harder, as well as easier options, so you can progress at your own rate. Mats are provided, along with a relaxing soundtrack. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Sing for Joy Kirsteen Freer Telephone: 01725 5510202/517807 Wednesday evening Have you ever wished that you could sing, or have you been too busy to sing for years, and now find yourself with a little more time? If so, this could be the choir for you. I believe that almost everyone can sing, and welcome you to come and “Sing for Joy” with the Ringwood Community Choir. We sing part songs written for communities to sing, rather than only choirs; songs from around the world in different styles, eg African, Taizé, Eastern European, Gospel, Folk, Doo Wop, Spirituals, Rounds, etc. There is no need to read music, although music is available for those who find it useful. We meet on Wednesday evenings during term-time, and although regular attendance is greatly appreciated, it is not necessary. Why not give it a try? Come and join our friendly group for a fun, relaxing and uplifting evening. For further details, please phone Kirsteen, as above. Greyfriars Classes
Instruction in these classes is in the hands of qualified teachers. They are open to members and non-members of the Association and cover as wide a range of subjects as possible. It is essential to have at least 12 students registered for a class. It is therefore important that students wishing to join a class should enrol at the beginning of a term and attend regularly; otherwise the class may be forced to close. Teaching is as informal as possible.
